Gold Walking – Training and Practice Expedition

Based in the incredible but accessible Edale valley, we will spend 4 days upskilling participants to help them to enjoy and excel in whatever conditions February is the Peak District can throw at them! Come rain or shine (or snow) our instructors will work with you to create lots of learning opportunities that stretch your comfort zone and grow your ability, whilst keeping you safe and having fun.
Our first day will be spent local to Edale YHA where we plan to stay on Night 1, allowing us to make the most of their indoor facilities to battle the dark evening’s and plan our expedition on that first evening. Day 2 will develop skills in the local area before camping at a campsite with indoor facilities for expedition planning and chatting about the day’s progression and challenges. Day 3 and 4 will put your skills to the test under your instructors mentorship though a practice expeditions where you will be independently “proper camping” at a remote hillside farm putting all your expedition skills to the test
What is included?
- All training and expedition guidance, route planning and instruction.
- All group expedition kit e.g., tents, cookers, fuel, first aid kits, map’s etc.
- The provision of accommodation as detailed in the itinerary
- Provision of qualified and experienced instructors, pastoral support and 24-hour emergency back up support in case of emergencies.
- A pre-expedition training session for the whole group via Teams/ Zoom etc.
What is not included?
- Expedition food (unless purchased as an optional extra)
- Transport to and from the agreed start/finish point.
- Personal belongings insurance or cancelation insurance
- Provision of individual equipment specified in the personal kit list (unless purchased as an optional extra)
