The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a nationally recognised programme of activities that is proven to develop essential life skills which are vital in the development of young people.


No Limits Development is a leading provider of DofE Expeditions, and one of the first providers to become accredited as an Approved Activity Provider (AAP).  We have an excellent reputation for delivering high quality expeditions that stretch & challenge students to their full potential.

We specialise in working in partnership with schools, youth groups & other organisations in setting up & maintaining Expeditions that are progressive and set the correct level of challenge at each stage.  Through this partnership approach we assist schools in building expedition programmes that are challenging, rewarding & enjoyable.  Once completed, students have an immediate realisation that they have achieved something quite unique and rewarding.   An experience which they are hugely proud of, that will stay with them for the rest of their lives & in many cases shape their futures.  These are the experiences that participants can talk about at interview with passion, enthusiasm & pride which will make them stand out.


We pride ourselves on the quality of our staff, all of whom are highly qualified and experienced outdoor professionals.  Our staff come from a variety of backgrounds ranging from teaching, business management, military, to mountain guides.  They all have one thing in common – their passion for the outdoors, and their enthusiasm for sharing this with students.  All staff work regularly on DofE programmes and are fully up to date on the syllabus and requirements of the Expedition section including the 20 Conditions. All are a minimum of Mountain Leader Summer Assessed, and accredited DofE supervisors and assessors.

The safety of all young people and accompanying staff is our utmost priority and our programmes adhere to strict supervision ratio guidelines as outlined by the education system, NGB Guidelines and AALA licensing. To ensure the safety of everyone involved in our expeditions we implement the following safety measures:

  • AALA licensing/ inspection
  • Thorough site specific risk assessments
  • Stringent safety operating procedures
  • 24hr back up during all expeditions
  • Provision of all safety equipment

When it comes to safety, the quality and experience of our staff is our biggest asset. They continuously review the level of risk during every stage of an expedition and all hold:

  • First Aid qualifications relevant to the remote areas in which we sometimes work
  • All staff are cleared through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
  • Safety Management training
  • Appropriate National Governing Body qualifications – all are a minimum of ML Summer assessed.
